About This Role

Come build a futurewith Amazon Public Policy. The Manager, Public Policy will help develop and execute Amazon’s public policy efforts at the state and local level in New Jersey.

You will create and execute state and local government affairs objectives in New Jersey. This position will be responsible for engaging on state legislation, working with outside consultants, and interacting with our trade associations. This position will also support local government outreach, and establish relationships with public officials in communities where Amazon operates. They will attend policymaker conferences and be responsible for building positive relationships.

Key job responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with our policy and business teams to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals.
- Assess and anticipate public policy matters, oversee and execute external advocacy efforts, and drive key initiatives.
- Assess and communicate potential government activities
- Develop strategies and positions, coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and key initiatives.
- Educate government stakeholders on a wide range of policy areas.
- Coordinate advocacy and to represent Amazon issues to policymakers on issues related to our business.

Basic Qualifications

  • - Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • - 8+ years of public policy experience
  • - Experience in transportation operations and industry knowledge
  • - An ability and desire to travel is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • - Experience interacting with government agencies on technology policy.
  • - An expert understanding of the legislative and regulatory policy process and the technology industry.
  • - New Jersey government experience
  • - Expert skills in advocacy and using spoken and written rhetoric to persuade and inform.
  • - Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience creating and effectively delivering factual, relevant, and easily understandable talking points and other messaging.
  • - Broad government relations strategy experience.
  • - Ability to maintain the highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity.
