Amazon is searching for an innovative and solutions-oriented Operations Engineer to be a part of our initiative of developing and delivering the next generation of advanced technology systems for Worldwide Grocery Stores Tech (WWGST) business.
Operations Engineers are part of a new product/technology development of Alpha units for further testing & deployment of proven technologies. You will serve as a liaison between our customer (different building type for Grocery) and the product design and development Engineers. This role will require the ability to build relationships across a cross functional team and capture and synthesize the voice of the customer. Their primary goal is to support the field activities including coordination and execution of installation, commissioning, facilitate testing and performance ramp up of the product allowing the design engineers and product team to focus on the system performance improvement and optimization.
As an Operations Engineer for Grocery Robotics and Automation System (GRAS), you will be able to work with some of the most talented engineers in the design, development, and delivery of new technologies and advanced automated systems around the globe. You will support installations of complex cross-functional projects or programs that focus on the building of new, the alteration of existing, and the closing of end-of-life material handling and technology systems. As an Operations Engineer, you are able to support the implementation and delivery of complex system designs and advanced technology in ambiguous and complex problem spaces. You help integrate systems for safety, security, stability, and efficiency. You participate in the full system development life cycle, working within broadly defined parameters, including test plan execution and solution quality needs.

Key job responsibilities
- Establish and maintain a safe work environment following all local, State and Amazon specific standards and requirements.
- Manage the installation of complex cross-functional projects with considerable impact. Projects may span organizations or geographies in support of a business objective.
- Work independently with internal and external engineering teams to successfully deliver cross-functional projects that are of a high-quality (e.g., on-time, on-budget, maintainable, low-defects, etc.). Setting project priorities, establish milestones, and drive schedules to meet a deadline.
- Define systems in your project space, their limitations, performance factors, boundary conditions, and reasons behind design intent and decisions.
- Deep dive technical solutions that encompass advanced technology applications, conveyor hardware selection, material handling integration, and vendor commissioning content and expectations.
- Participate in design reviews and support execution efforts between internal teams and outside vendors including equipment specifications, material flow, process design, and site layout.
- Communicate project status, effectively answer project questions in detail, and regularly produce clear and concise summaries for the projects you own to your leadership/management team.
- Capture and synthesize the Voice of Customer (VoC) for all new product introductions and leverage this information to prioritize system defects and lead the triage efforts with product Development teams applying lessons learned with the Product, and Engineering teams to enable acceleration and deployment scale.
- Manage budget and contract documents including RFPs, change order controls, purchase orders, and invoicing.
- Build strong working relationships with Fulfillment Center leadership and their operations teams across multiple sites as well as their Facilities, Finance, Safety, Process Engineers, and other business stakeholders.
- Develop cross-functional knowledge of Operations and Engineering teams, systems, processes, procedures, and tools.
- Travel up to 75% throughout North America, which can vary and consist of up to three weeks consecutive travel including weekends.
Basic Qualifications
- - 5+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment experience
- - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related STEM field
- - Experience providing technical guidance for large-scale industrial engineering projects
- - Knowledge of mechanical, electrical diagrams and controls logic.
- - Design and/or implementation experience with integrated automation solutions, such as complex material handling systems, high-speed packaging lines, or manufacturing lines.
Preferred Qualifications
- - Knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL at the intermediate level
- - Experience working with and managing third party vendors
- - Experience with Six Sigma, lean manufacturing

- The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
