About This Role

We're looking for a Risk and Compliance Lead to help us build and maintain a best-in-class risk and compliance function as Lemonade grows in the UK and across Europe.

This isn't a checkbox role. You'll work at the centre of how we manage regulatory relationships, shape internal risk frameworks, and advise teams across the business on what it means to operate responsibly in a fast-moving, AI-powered insurance company. You'll report into our EU Compliance and Risk management function holder and have real ownership of the UK Risk and Compliance operation from day one.

We believe three things matter for every role at Lemonade: drive to push through challenges, efficiency that keeps standards high while moving fast, and adaptability that lets you pivot with data and AI insights. These aren't buzzwords, they're how we actually work.

Our AI-first approach isn't just a tagline either. We're building the future of insurance with AI at the center, and we need people who are genuinely excited to learn and grow alongside these tools.

In this role you'll:

  • Work closely with UK Branch Management and senior leaders across the Lemonade Group to keep compliance embedded in how we operate

  • Design and implement UK-specific policies, processes, and procedures

  • Maintain and evolve Lemonade's UK Risk Management and Internal Control Framework

  • Monitor, assess, and report on compliance and risk to support the function holder

  • Manage UK regulatory expectations, reporting obligations, and legislative change tracking

  • Contribute to the planning and execution of company board meetings and UK Branch management committee sessions

  • Advise Acquisition, Actuarial, Underwriting, Pricing, and Insurance product teams on applicable UK regulations

What you'll need:

  • A degree in UK or European law, or a closely related field

  • 7+ years of experience in risk and compliance, corporate governance, or UK regulatory work

  • Hands-on experience in a Solvency II (or Solvency UK)-regulated entity — insurance sector experience is a strong plus

  • Familiarity with PRA and FCA regulatory frameworks, including GIPP, consumer rights, fair value, PROD4, AI regulation, and privacy

  • Confidence working with senior management and board members

  • Strong track record in regulatory reporting, executive-level analysis, and presentation preparation

  • Ability to independently own and drive projects from start to finish

  • Sharp attention to detail, with solid organisational and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Genuine curiosity about AI and how it's transforming financial services — this isn't optional at Lemonade, it's core to how we work
